So this is my first time at SLC comic con and if you haven’t come down you need to mark your calendars and plan to be here because it is amazing.
First of all it’s like the best “Halloween party” you’ve ever been to. The costumes are intense. I spoke with several cosplayers today that have spent over a year making their costume. A year! And the quality really shows. Second this place lets your inner child come out and run free. I’ve seen so much here that has taken me back to when I was just a wee lad. Third thing is the people, there are so many amazing people to meet. Like horror author Michaelbrent Collins, Marvel artist Steve Lieber and comic writer newcomer Joshua Crowther.

The con hasn’t been without its downsides. Several of the printed promo material for Another Day Another Name and Raven International Publishing didn’t show up before we had to leave for SLC. I forgot scissors which meant wandering around a maze of booths asking everyone if they had scissors (thanks to the robotics display, knew those guys would have tools).
The big mess up of the con has been getting people through the doors (and no one seems to know why). There were two hours left for the night when we heard that there was still a line that was taking three hours to get through meaning that some people might not make it. Harris, co-publisher of RIP, had the suggestion to go and give our two tickets away and bring the people in like they were working our booth. So I went to the back of huge line and grabbed the last two people. They were so excited. I also hooked them up with my book and some free swag from RIP.
All in all an amazing first day, all ready for day two!
